A good full-size stack is hard to beat. They have the most UARTs for peripherals, the highest amp ratings on the ESCs, and usually support more features than any smaller board. These boards are meant to handle abuse. From racers to freestylers, and even long-range these parts will always stand up to the challenge thrown at them. The larger solder pads make them easier to solder on than other boards as well. This makes them fantastic for those who are just learning to solder together a build themselves. If your build has the space for it, there is no better option.
